Tarig started his legal career with the New York law firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle as an attorney in their corporate department, where he focused on cross-border M&A and corporate compliance.
After leaving Curtis, Tarig joined the German software company SAP to become Vice President & General Counsel of SAP Middle East, covering a 19-country region. While at SAP, Tarig negotiated dozens of software license and implementation agreements, including one of SAP’s largest deals ever, the licensing and implementation of SAP R/3 and later mySAP.com for Aramco – the world’s largest oil & gas firm.
After SAP, Tarig joined the Denver and Houston-based oil & gas software firm of P2 Energy Solutions, Inc. as its General Counsel. While at P2, Tarig led the growth of the company through mergers and acquisitions including the acquisitions of Oracle Energy Upstream from Novistar, Inc., the acquisition of the Canadian software company QByte from IBM, the acquisition of Tobin Maps out of San Antonio, and the acquisition of Tristone Energy Partners, a Canadian Oil & Gas boutique investment bank. Tarig then led the sale of P2 to Vista Equity Partners in 2008 and then ran his own firm, Anani Law Firm, until joining McCathern.
