Biography

Stephanie M. Almeter joined McCathern, Shokouhi, Evans as an Associate in 2011 and was promoted to Partner in 2017. In addition to being a leader at McCathern, Stephanie is serving as President of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association for 2024 after serving as President-Elect in 2023.

Her current practice focuses on general civil, business, and employment litigation. Stephanie has had the opportunity to represent clients in both trial court and arbitration, and authored a post-hearing brief that was instrumental in obtaining a total defense verdict where the demand at arbitration was over $5 million dollars in economic damages. Stephanie also has extensive experience in obtaining and/or defending clients in temporary restraining order and temporary injunction proceedings involving non-compete and non-disclosure agreements. Stephanie enjoys advocating on behalf of her clients and has a proven track record of obtaining positive results on behalf of her clients.

Stephanie attended Baylor Law School in Waco, where her litigation skills were developed and honed through Baylor’s rigorous Practice Court program. While at Baylor Law, she was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for her achievements in advocacy and was very involved with Baylor’s nationally recognized advocacy teams. Stephanie was a semi-finalist as a member of the National Security Law Moot Court Competition Team and co-authored an appellate brief that was awarded Second-Runner Up in a competitive pool of candidates. During Baylor Law’s Appellate Practice Program, Stephanie co-authored a bench memorandum used in preparation for oral argument in a case of first impression before the Texas Supreme Court.

She is a Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University, where she was involved in numerous leadership organizations and awarded the J. Malon Southerland Aggie Leader Award, recognizing her commitment to servant leadership. She was also awarded the Aggie Bar Scholarship for exceptional promise in the legal field.

Stephanie was recognized as Super Lawyers Texas Rising Star from 2014 – 2021, a peer-nominated accommodation given to the top 2.5% of eligible attorneys, and in 2021 she was named to the Super Lawyers Up-And-Coming 100: Texas Rising Stars List. She has also been voted by her peers as one of Dallas’s Best Lawyers Under 40 by D Magazine from 2018 through 2024. In 2024, she was named by Best Lawyers® to the The Best Lawyers in America® list for Litigation – Labor and Employment.

Stephanie was named a 2020 12 Under 12 by the Texas A&M Association of Former Students, an honor that recognizes alumni who graduated in the past 12 years and are leading by example in business and service. She was also featured in the Texas A&M Foundation article “Raising the Bar” and was named Dallas Association of Young Lawyers’ (DAYL) “One to Watch”. Stephanie is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and Dallas Women’s Lawyers Association.
